Visiting Detroit/Ann Arbor- Part 1: University of Michigan
Last week I traveled to Ann Arbor to photograph a wedding on the University of Michigan campus. The wedding was beautiful and everything went exactly as planned but I will talk more about that and post pictures later on.
The wedding was on Saturday but I decided to make it a short vacation, so I stayed from Friday to Monday. I found a room right outside of the UMich campus on airbnb. It was my first time using the site so I was a bit nervous but my host turned out to be very nice and the room was neat and clean.
Friday: I arrived at the Detroit International Airport around noon on friday and took the Michigan flyer bus to Ann Arbor. The bus ride was actually very nice (then again I was a tourist so everything was interesting to me) and there was even complementary bottled water. The bus driver brought her friend along for the day and during the whole ride they gossiped about drama in the company which was very entertaining for me.
*All photos here were taken on my canon s95 point and shoot.
About an hour later, we arrived in Ann Arbor. The bus station just happened to be a block away from where I was staying so I just walked over. I got the keys and opened the front door and then a wave of pot hit me. For a second I was transported back to college.
Anyways, I dropped off my stuff and went out to explore. UMich really has a beautiful campus- perfectly manicured lawns, well maintained old buildings, convenient stores surrounding the campus. It's the kind of picturesque campus where you would see kids playing frisbee, multicultural students walking together and laughing, a girl sitting against a tree reading a book.... I actually saw all these things. Anyways, I had to go to the rehearsal dinner at night so I couldn't stay out for too long.
Soon after I had to meet up with my friends, the bride and groom, to go to the rehearsal.
